Indigenous communities of Xingu receive 3,000 FFP2 masks to fight Covid-19 pandemic

Indigenous peoples of the Xingu Indigenous Territory have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic since March 2020. Over the past year, they have lost several members of their communities, including Chief Aritana. Considered as the greatest leader of the tribes of the Upper Xingu, Chief Aritana fought all his life to protect the peoples and lands of the Xingu and safeguard their ancestral cultures.

In December 2020, AFV obtained 3,000 FFP2 masks from German company Technisat. Thanks to Dpdgroup’s assistance and the participation of the French Embassy in Brasilia, AFV was able to deliver these masks to indigenous communities of the Xingu territory in January 2021, as requested by the communities.
